It is interesting to see how many red dots I got just by starting this thread. My logic was that since general election in India is once in 5 years event, it is legitimate to discuss its results as the counting started in full swing.
We already have many non-immigration threads like for jokes, and for speculation on future leaders of India. So what's the big deal about this thread?
Do you want to know what the big deal is? It is the Congress victory that all the Indian neo-cons infesting this website cannot digest. Had bjp come out a topper at the hustings, I am sure I would have been deluged with green dots.

Now to political views, un-like personal views, these can be aired and that's what makes them political views. Tommorow you could be on other side and that's what politics is about. I for one, didn't like Congress but than since moderates like Vajepayee have been retired and replaced by ultra-fundamentalists like modi's and advani's, majority of Indians were left with no choice but to side with Economic-mastero (Manmohan "Singh the king") of India and Sonia's Congress. The Left had been left behind, as their time has gone and regional/ devisive parties tarnished by their mis-deeds.
Kudos to all my Indian coutnerparts for voting for National issues ...:). I look forwad to "Singh the King" re-vitalizing Indian economy and finally installing economic changes country requires. On side note, I am also depressed to hear that a "career cheat" who tarnished national pride and game I love to play has been elected to lower house ...:mad:

I have an appeal pending with AAO since 7 months now. We should request IV to put in the omnibus bill for faster processing of appeal cases by AAO (Administrative Appeals office) in Washington DC

if you do not believe, please call USCIS. if the IO is an honest person, he/she will tell you the frontlog receipting from USCIS website is wrong information, (they got email from their supervisor) and USCIS has the least priority to process leftover application filed between 07/02/2007 and 07/17/2007.

Actually, My PD is current now and I ask them to return my July 2 applcation so that I can refile a new one. They gave me fax number 402-219-6171 to Nebraska center to expedite the process. I am going to fax a request to withdraw my application.

Went there are 8:00 Am, doors open at 8:00 for that office. There is a separate Infopass lobby, where I was the only person waiting. IO called my name, went to window. When asked mentioned here for processing update on my case, as I am current (PD 04/2006, RD 07/02/2007) EB2- IN. She verified the info typed something after a while said NC and FP clear for myself. Said TSC has a lot of apps and that (quoting her verbatim) "Your application is probably in a box in a corner that has not been touched yet. Last time they accessed it was Sep 07" that was probably when my FP came back. NC cleared 07/20/2008. She supposedly sent an e-mail to someone at TSC about this. I think she actually did. She took a memo type doc that had numbers / e-mail ID's on it and typed something for a minute. I asked about my spouse NC. She first said she needs to be there, then looked at me, checked something after enetering A# off her receipt and said " same as you, she is all clear and should get approval with you". I asked so is the next step, assignment to officer for adjudication, she said yes. I asked if visa numbers are still available or is the FY quota over. She smiled and said, hopefully they will pick up your app early next month, else visa numbers will not be available for a long time.
I personally think she was extremely helpful and kind, seemed to understand the anxiety of the applicants, and really surprised me with the e-mail to TSC, which was way more than I had hoped to accomplish

I have e-filed the AP renewal have 2 questions please respond.
1) The postal address shows same as EAD renewal, is this correct.
2) Seems they will take a picture/fingerprint, so 2 photos is only for EAD renewal not AP.
Required docs you will have to send for I-131/AP renewal
1. I-131/AP E-file receipt
2. Photo Id: License
3. Passport visa page
4. 485 receipt copy
If applying for Re-entry Permit, you must be fingerprinted as part of USCIS biometric services requirements. After you have filed this application, USCIS will notify you in writing of the time and location where you must go to be fingerprinted. If necessary, USCIS may also take your photograph and signature.

Can 245 cases be counted against country quota? If so, my PD will be current only in 2020. Yes ONLY in 2020 as there were more than 45,000 cases that were filed aganist 245. Multiply 45K with family members.

I need this urgent help. I was on H4, got my H1B this year through a consulting company. My EAD got approved meanwhile in this july flyer and got my card as well. My H1b sponsor Company knows that i got my EAD and they are showing least interest in searching for a job for me and neither they are responding back to my emails. I have my EAD.
Is is advisable to use my EAD to get a job?
Can i get my ssn using my EAD? If i do that, do i lose my H4 and H1B?
Do you advise me to change the H1b to H4 again?
Can i technically retain my H4 and use EAD?
My hubby is on H1B and has an approved EAD but is not planning to use it as he is happy with his present employer, so he would be on H1B.

Even if my i-485 gets approved before she is here, i can still bring her on follow-to-join, as i got married before the approval of my 1-485, right? Why would it take 3-4 years to bring her here if i go through the follow-to-join route. My understanding is that follow-to-join takes somewhere btw 6-12 months. If i had gotten married after the approval of my i-485 then yes, it would have taken 3-4 years to bring her here. Can somebody confirm this. Thanks!
Yes , you can use FTJ route and it is very fast, if your PD remains current. You don't need to wait for 3-4 years as in case of GC holders.The best option is to bring her on H4 ASAP and then file AOS.

ocpmachine - were your x-ray scans completely clear or were the doctors not able to take a call?
My TST was 10mm and chest X-ray clear, but the doctor still insisted on getting treatment before completing paperwork, according to the cdc site its not required and USCIS only requires TST and X-ray report results, cdc.gov documents clearly tells the doctor what should be done for latent class B, doctors just overlook that point and make you take treatment, also not to scare you, treatment is strong antibiotic which has lots of side effect, again unless you are Class A, per CDC treatment is recommended not required. Worst case goto another USICS certified doctor with all the results and get the paperwork done .

Anything related to information security also goes through lengthy security background checks at consulates when you do visa revalidation, because of it being on TAL.
Just because you do "information security" does not mean that you cannot find a job in the regular sector. Lots of companies need some form of security in their software/applications.
Why don't you relax a bit and then scout outside the government sector? They do not have US citizenship requirements. Maybe it may be worthwhile to change your job profile to be an "information systems engineer/professional" and bank on ur software skills (java,c++,c, oracle etc).

You dont have to stick to the same job description when transferring from one H1 to another. That is only neccesary when you are thru your GC process.
