Cumon ... we all are trying our best to repair the situation. Murthy, being a lawyer has done whatever she could. Don't praise her for she's done, but at least don't critisize her. Which other law firm has so much 'free' info on their website in the form of Forums, chat sessions, FAQs etc. Obviously every law firm wants to earn money, but she is a dedicated lawyer working sincerely in her profession. She's not doing social service, I agree, but at least she is sincere in her profession.

Hi:
I have applied for I 140 in July 2007 and my case is pending from more than 2 years(Labor substitution). I have changed from regular to premium processing last week and from past 3 days I am getting different update on my case.
I thought that day # 2 status is maintained by USCIS until we respond to RFC. Why did my case status change to "case received and pending" after RFC?. Can any one please explain.
It is really strange that everyday I am getting different updates... Please find the details below:
1) On 07/28/2009 I got following email stating
Current Status: Request for Premium Processing
Your Request for Premium Processing Service for your I140 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR ALIEN WORKER was received on July 28, 2009. We mailed you a receipt with information about processing. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. Follow the link below for current processing dates.
2) On 07/29/2009 - Current Status: Request for Additional Evidence Sent
On July 29, 2009, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case I140 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR ALIEN WORKER. As IV gains strength (due to support and contributions from members) IV will become a voice nobody can ignore. Due to our efforts so far we have gained lot of visibility and our opinions are heard by people who make decisions.
Again, IV will not post on the open forum to anonymous users whom we meet or whom, we are invited to meet. If you want to know answers to such questions then join your state chapters. You will know not only know answers to such questions, but will become a part of such efforts.

Everyone asked for every silly issue to show the results for them to contribute. I know even now we have not heard any good news yet, but we know there is going to be one in next 24 hours. I would like this moment of opportunity to inspire the silent members to come forward and contribute to IV and register for recurring contribution. IV goal is not yet complete. This is just a milestone if we could file I 485. Below are some issues and they are just the tip of ice berg.
1. Our fellow members are still stuck with BEC with PD of 2000 and 2001. We have to put ourselves today in their shoes and feel their pain.
2. There are lot of us who are stuck in name check for long time. Nothing is guaranteed if you file 485 today. You may be one among the FBI name check victim in future. I dont wish that to happen , but it could.
3. There are people who have filed 140 and 485 and the documents were misplaced by USCIS. There are chasing their own tail for years and stuck in their life.
4. Unexpected rejection in EAD and 485 and the case moved to different location.
5. Last but not least, the abuse of power by USCIS and wasting the visa numbers. Countries like India, china, mexico and philippines are are hugely affected by this negligence.

As I said before, BJP needs new leadership. The values of the party BJP are much better for the country than Congress. Congress is currently in power due to appeal of Dr Manmohan Singh, just like BJP was in power due to appeal of Atal Behari Vajpayee.
The downside of Congress is they have not dealt terrorism in India with a firm hand. It is inexcusable that home minister was Shivraj Patil for 4 years and 26/11 occurred.
With this election, Manmohan Singh has emerged more powerful than Sonia Gandhi. He will have real power this time and will introduce reforms at a higher speed than before.
BJP did not have proper election agenda. They did not have coherent leadership message. They did not highlight issues with Congress govt and did not run proper election campaign.
One should not forget that elections in India can produce cynical results. Even Manmohan had lost election from South Delhi in 1999

I know there was old thread related to Life insurance but could not find it so starting new thread.
I am 41 yrs of age and smoked cigerates more than five yrs ago.
I tried to purchase TERM LIFE insurance for myself.
For 350,000 $ policy - 20yr term - Newyourk Life gives premium of 685 $ per year.
Where as Prudential for 3,50,000 30 yr term gives premium of 827$.
Both policies include premium for DISABILITY WAVIER OF PREMIUM rider.
Does above premiums are too high, too low or OK.
I tried to talk to couple of americans in my office and they are getting quite low premiums compare to US.
Please give some ideas if you have bought or tried for term policies before.

I meant the date I mailed my 765 application (not the USCIS receipt date). We had sent our app on June 29th and my receipt date is august 24th. I am going to write June 29th (not august 24th) since that's the date I had applied for my EAD. Doesn't that make sense?
I would think the receipt date of July 2 on our EAD "receipt notice" (not the "approval notice", where this date is Aug 24) makes better sense, because this is the date when USCIS actually received our application. Our mail-out date of June 29 may not be the correct date because they won't have any record of it on their file.

When is ent an email to AVP requesting to file my green card in EB2, HR/Recruiting manager has sent the following email in response. I need your suggestions how to proceed on this.

Are you sure your lawyer did not make any mistake and requested only a 1 year EAD. Did you read all your forms he sent?
Unless you ask for a 1 year EAD or do not send all information needed in the form, they will issue a 1 year EAD only.
Did you also met this conditions
- Pending I-485 Application (Quote Receipt No)
- Approved I-140 (Receipt No)
- Priority Date Retrogression (Country of Chargeability and EB category - quote latest Visa Bulletin dates)

Its not legal.How can he put his address. You do the paperwork with attorney and not him. You give information to the attorney, you sign the copy. Having the right address is critical for your application. Change of adress after application has to be intimated to the USCIS

My wife is currently on H4.
She has a H1b approved for 3 years to start working on October 1, 2007.
Now, she gets a EAD (though my I-485) to start working on September 1, 2007 valid for 1 year only.
She has a job and the company would like her join asap.
Questions are:
1. Will her EAD (I-485 pending) cancel her H1B approval for the company?
2. Can she work only Sept 1 - Spet-30 on EAD and then fall-back on her H1B (Oct 1 - later) for next 3 years?
We know that H1b is approved and all set for 3 years but Green-Card-EAD is only valid for 1 yr only and sometimes renwal takes time and $$ and bit riskly. So we cant decide if we should stick to her alreay approved H1b or fall back on EAD.
