Congrats inderman. Seeing Light at the end of the very very long Tunnel !!!
I got CPO email on Oct 22, at 7:45 pm from USCIS (not CRIS), almost the same time as yours.
What are the emails you got? I didn't get any email on I-485 approval. Update me if you get any other correspondence. I will update too.
Waiting for spouse's approval to come.

Just curious.... When do they do the name check? Is it after the fingerprints are complete??
I just spoke to a USCIS rep who was very helpful. She took the A# of mine and my wife's and verified the status of FBI name check and FP check. My name check is pending with FBI and my wife's was cleared as per her. For both of us the FP check is cleared.
When I asked her when my name check was initiated I was told that it was on Aug 1st 2007. This is approximately 1 week after my 485 notice date. My FP was done on Aug 21st 2007.

It is not popular to say so but I have this doubt too.
Currently at least there is no requirement to notify and you only need to prove you still have a similar job OFFER (not necessarily working) if and when there is an RFE.
Only good thing happened to us in last decade, as far as I can remember, is AC21 and concurrent filing.
All these immigration laws are designed to keep us indebted/bonded to the employer. They might see this as a liberating provision and try to chain us back. This may or may not happen, but just my paranoid reaction,.
Hope AC21 don't go away like labor substitution has. :(
That is naive... AC21 is not an administrative decision of USCIS... It is a law... AC21 = American Competitiveness in the 21st Century act!! It was passed by congress and the only body that can revoke it is congress.
USCIS cannot revoke AC21.. only congress can. Please dont be paranoid. The most USCIS can do is refuse to change their current stance on same/similar job.
Gurus, correct me if I am wrong.

I thought he might say something stupid about the Hindu Prayer disruption in Senate yesterday. However he didn't bring it up. But the way it's been going his "faux pas" (anti-Italian remarks during Italian parade in Little Italy, anti-Latino, anti-Indian and anti-Chinese remarks such as "socio-ethnic interest groups", "foriegn" and "cheap labor", "Communist China" and ofcourse the 7000 lepers in 3 years...) are all building up and sooner or later something will give.
I don't think anything would give as a big part of america can relate to all this. At the most CNN may fire him but a number of other stations would be ready to pick him up. Last thing a broadcaster wants is for people to ignore him/her. Thanks to us that is not going to be a problem for Dear Lou, and so a number of stations would love to have him just for that.

This is really good news.. Can you please provide more details of your case?
- was it first H1/H4 stamping or renewal?
- do you have I140/I-485 application filed?
- did your employer do anything to inform the US consulate in advance about visa stamping?
thanks in advance,
H1 Visa renewal (with a new employer)...earlier H1 visa was stamped in Toronto.
I-140 pending at NSC since March 07
Category is Schedule A (now EB3)
I-485 pending at TSC, EAD and AP approved.
There was no communication between the consulate and my employer. I guess it was just luck.

I agree I too have never seen H1B only ad's anywhere even body shoppers never post this kind of ad which is blatant discrimination. .
IGATE Mastech was fined by DOJ not too long ago
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/05/02/h1_b_discrimination_doj_fine/
Pittsburgh computer consultancy is paying $45,000 in civil penalties over claims it discriminated against legal US residents by advertising only for developers on H-1B visas.
The case was brought against iGate Mastech for placing an ad for 30 programmers between May and June 2006 "that expressly favored H-1B visa holders to the exclusion of US citizens, lawful permanent citizens and other legal US workers" according to the US Department of Justice.
So-called citizenship status discrimination is prohibited by the US Immigration and Nationality Act. The DoJ said it is "committed to protection the right of all authorized workers in the United States against citizenship status discrimination".
Get your facts right before posting. mastech is not the only firm that did it. As you pointed out, many of these fly-by-night operators (and bigger outsourcing companies) offer below market salaries, pocketing the difference like parasites.

JUAN GONZALEZ: Lou, Id just like to ask you one last question. We have very little time left. But youve criticized many American companies, but CJR, Columbia Journalism Review, came out with a report in 2004 that questioned that your private newsletter, which goes to investors, has recommended investing in several of these companies thatthat you actually list
LOU DOBBS: You know what? When I came here, Juan, I knew this would be a lot of fun with you two, but youre really ridiculous
JUAN GONZALEZ: You actually list
LOU DOBBS: because I havent had a newsletter for three years, partner. I shut down the newsletter.
JUAN GONZALEZ: No, but when your newsletter was operating, it was recommending
LOU DOBBS: Oh, OK, when it was operating.
JUAN GONZALEZ: some of the very companies that you were criticizing for outsourcing.
LOU DOBBS: This is a very difficult thing for ideologues like you two to contend withthat is, balancing two concepts at the same time. But is there a correlation between investment in companies and a business practice that is absolutely pervasive in corporate America? Can you think of a single corporation in America that is not supporting outsourcing of jobs to overseas labor markets, cheap overseas labor markets?
AMY GOODMAN: Were going to have
LOU DOBBS: If you can name one
AMY GOODMAN: We have five seconds, Lou.
LOU DOBBS: then Ill suggest to you that there was probably a problem with that. If you cant, then you know that it was utter nonsense, and you shouldnt have brought it up.
AMY GOODMAN: Was it part of why you shut it down?
LOU DOBBS: No, not really.
AMY GOODMAN: Were going to leave it there.
LOU DOBBS: I was bored with it.
AMY GOODMAN: Lou Dobbs, thank you very much for joining us. His book is Independents Day: Awakening the American Spirit.

I have send emails to my credit card company and the people who processed the payment and none of them have been able to help me.
You should just fill a dispute form and send it to your credit card issuer. It's probably not too late. The bank can and should refund you the overpay.

Will you guys stop this madness atleast now?. If US started bending rules for people who send flowers, then everyone will try to manipulate the system. There is a lot of difference between the circumstances of originla gandhigiri and now. That was our country back then, for crying out loud.We are in a foriegn country and the issuance of visa a previlege not a right. Why cant you guys understand this simple fact?. Now stop making fools of yourself and get a life.
That USCIS director gave a good answer. Is your pain more than those citizens of this country who gave their limbs and life for US?.
BTW, i am one of the guys who couldn't file I-485 because of this fiasco. But i understand the reality.:)
Kindly realize that we know full well that flowers dont change laws and regulations. If that were case, Microsoft would have drowned DC with roses to get H1 quota increase.
We are not stupid. But the flower campaign does have a purpose bigger than 485 filing. Its called media attention. Now kindly stop complaining, trust IV leadership that has run this org successfully for past 18 months, and please help us by doing your part.

I don't intent to sound rude, but why would this make your life "Suck", "no social life" , "no carreer life", "no nothing life".
Iam in the same position as everybody else, and am deeply dissapointed with the news (hence Iam here), but I just spend 2 hours in a nice pub, drinking nice micro brews, came home had a nice talk with my wife (H4), we are planning on going out for dinner and maybe watch Knocked up afterwords (heard its nice).
If this were to be true, it would delay our GC by another 2-3 years, but we are in this country on our own free will, making good money. Be dissapointed, but this is not the end of the world..Mantain the perspective...
just curious...

I think this is a good initiative. If we see visa violations being done we need to report it. The reporting has nothing to do with India Indians or Indian companies. I am sure Cognizant IBM CapGemini are as good or bad as TCS Wipro or Infy. Plus people opposing this should realize that these same L1 are applying under EB1 category by utilizing the loophole and this is one of the bottleneck for people like us who are playing by rules. They are also violating wages standards and pulling the market down. So I do not see any reason to discourage people from reporting against malpractices in H1 L1 J1 or B1 visa.

Guys,
Conflicting opinions are welcome and necessary. However, pls let us eliminate the mudslinging that gets personal so quickly, just because we disagree.
From a practical point of view, given the situation today, getting doors open for citizenship looks remote: True.
However, in a land of immigrants, We The Legal, can stress a case for fairness. Just because we were born in a certain country and were classified by the law, the lawyer and the employer, sometimes unfairly, to be in a certain category, does not mean that we'll get into mainstream 15 years after others.
This is why we are a part of IV. There have been past successes with IV.
Pls let us TRY.

Notes:
If you already have applied in EB2 you won't be affected.
If you have a Masters you won't be affected.
I am EB2 India with Dec 2005 waiting. I think all EB applications should have fair short. So if a EB3 can become a EB2 legally, I think it is a fantastic thing.
I did not know about this rule. I changed employer in Jan 2005. My last employer's lawyer ill advised them to file me under EB3 in spite of the fact that the job paying off close to 200 k in compensation required B +8 and M+4 years of experience. I changed the job in Sep 05. Next company did the right thing and started the labor in EB2. I did not know about porting/interfiling otherwise my PD would have been Jan 2005. So even if I would have done a Port/Interfile, how am I at fault ?

Maybe FOIA request by IV was one of the main causes for this data to be posted on the USCIS website. USCIS thought that since the cat is out of the bag anyways, why not make the data public as part of the redesign effort of the USCIS website.
If the data provided to IV on the Donor forum matches with that of the USCIS site, there might be some other details in the IV report that can give us a better picture.
