I am currently in Chennai on a business trip. I am narrating an incident which happend in front of my eyes yesterday.
One of my neighbour's car was parked in the street. A rash motorcycle guy slammed it in the rear. Totally his fault. Car owner question him for his reckless driving. He ran away cameback with 5 guys ( all political ). By this time, cops arrived as well. Those 5 guys uttered these words infront of the cops and everybody.
" Do you know who i am. I am in politics. I will wipe you all".
After he left, people asked cops why they were quiet. Cops said, they were scared for their lives
Exactly!! Also note that:
1) China has surplus now (even though it is a communist regime) because it utilized to the max the capitalistic burst that US propelled. India got some of it but our poltical leadership was too messed up.
2) Now china can pump money into its domestic market to boost consumption!! How that happened?? Why cant India do that???
3) Also realize that US has the leadership investment not only in consumerism but also its research institute are still the best.
4) If there is a recovery, it will be lead by the US. hope India ains from that.
5) Very frequently you will hear such speakers in India and it is good but has anything ever worked??? Have you seen any corrupt poltician in Jail? ever? Unless the moral being of a nation / people is not well, the only hope for such nations is to cling on to developing communities elsewhere. THAT IS THE SIMPLE TRUTH AND REALITY MY FRIEND.
6) Dont we all know everything this speaker said? yes, but we also have lived and seen the developed communities. And yes they are in a economic stress now but the strength in them is much deaper that what our friend calls Indian "Family" structure....BS
7) Yes indian family is a strong unit but each family is for itself. Have you ever witnessed a sence of SACRIFICE in the Indian community?
8) Finally let me be frank, India should have been atleast 15 countries instead of one.

that is not correct. there are lot of people who applied in Aug (by no means they are earlier than July 2nd filers like me) and still managed to get their green cards. it just boils my blood to even think that this kind of injustice is prevelant and that they dont care about it. what ever those idiots at USCIS do not care.
It did boil my blood too. My RD is 2July07, but my application was entered by TSC in the system in October(in the meantime perhaps they were arguing on who should take this extraordinary load). My online status says "your case was received on Oct 11, 07...), meaning that, as far as TSC is concerned, my case was recieved on 11 Oct '07, so was placed at the tail end (behind all those who cases entered in July, Aug and Sep).
It is not right, but that's how they work. When I noted last year in July-Aug that people with 2005, 2006 were getting cleared, I raised this issue in a conference call with the Ombudsman. I even sent a 'complaint' via Fedex for a quick action. But I got a standard reply after 3 months saying "...your PD is not current..." (as by that time, PD cutoff were retrogressed again). Perhaps noone even read or cared to understand.

It's good that they are cracking down on the employers who are exploiting the H1B program but it's sad that some genuine people are getting affected by this. US govt should allow the businesses to flourish and it's not goog to point fingers at H1B/Outsourcing all together for the job loss as if these policy makers have no contribution for this economy crisis.

based on a lot of experience in talking to a lot of people and personally going through and also a lot of research and tyalking to people, Attorneys, infopass officers, congressional liasons, customer service, ombudsman etc.....
Here is what this whole thing looks like.
Different service centers operate differently ie TSC is different in procedures from NSC. In TSC the process of handling any kind of letters, requests etc... is kinda big secret and we never know how they handle stuff.
When you send communication with a covering letter explaining your reason, we usually do not get any acknowledgement.
If you call cusotmer service - there is no way they can look into the system and tell you what is happening if at all someone opened your physical file and added your communication.
People at infopass have also tried their best to know about their cases in detail but not able to get any help.
Now, we do not know if it is an issue with lack of proper process in place or if staff do not have much authority to deal with things through independent decision making or whatever, we have no idea how all this works.
If you want to let USCIS know that you changed job, there is no harm in doing it. Do not expect that they will send a letter back acknowledging it.
But if you send a letter to USCISt hat you are withdrawing your GC for some reason .... then yes - you will get a prompt response back that your request has been processed.
I think you all understand the difference.
When one changes jobs under AC21 - be ready for an RFE or a NOID or a denial if 140 gets revoked. If your 485 gets denied, you can resolve it through a MTR.

I echo Walking Dude's comment. You can either keep complaining about how the immigration system is failing you and how unfair it is OR you can take action and actually DO something about it. Please participate in IV's campaign if you haven't already done so. AND please motivate OTHERS to participate as well. It will only take 10 minutes of your time.

Completed means "Data Entry Completed". They have a long way to go. In year and half since BECs started functioning they have done data entry only for about 33% of cases. How the hell they will do 100% data entry by JUne 2006 which DOL claims they will do. We are gonna rot there for a long time.
Filing for 1-140/485 don't even come to my mind.
I haven't verfied this but I took "Completed" to mean that a decision has been rendered.
