how do you save money for EAD and AP fees. Is it not that they are pretty much chizled in stone. What criterias I have to meet to save money on these 2.
you save money by not applying for it. If u get ur GC, u dont need EAD & AP.

i went for stamping in india in Feb'09. Mine wasn't in PIMS. They said that my visa is issued but will get the PP with stamp after PIMS clearance and it might take upto 2 weeks. but luckily i got it in 3 days.
those whose I-797 was approved around the same time when PIMS was introduced ( i think Oct'07 ), should be careful about this.
i read somewhere that, they messed up initial data transfer during PIMS launch. so the I-797s that got approved around the same time are more likely to be missed. mine was approved exactly in the same month PIMS was implemented and surely it wasn't in PIMS.

i was aware and prepared for this when i went for stamping. i was at the window of initial screening officer. he took my dox and verified in their system and started writing 'not in PIMS' on top of my app. i was looking at it and i said 'aah! is it not in PIMS?'. he was surprised ( that i knew about PIMS etc) and gave me a look. now, i told to myself 'dude! shut up' :D
minumum precaution u should take is, take the visa appointment on the first couple of days of ur visit, to have buffer for PIMS.
but, i read, there is another type of delay that's the nemsis of pink 221(g) or something like that. this is for people who work in sensitive industries like defense, biotech, chemical etc. that surely take a long time, coz they need clearance from washington.

I can't imagine what these officials were thinking when they made those arbitrary rules. It seems like they want to penalize people for holding on to the Indian citizenship (i.e. passports). But, they are perfectly fine to reward people who have gained citizenship of another country and want to give their children close to similar rights as normal Indian citizens. Rational mind would think that it should be reverse. OCI should be given to children of parents who are Indian citizens or are LPR but still have kept their Indian citizenships. PIO should be given to children of parents who have renounced the Indian citizenship as it comes with less benefits.
Just wondering aloud, are we being persecuted in India because we don't have US citizenship? If so, could we try refugee status? :)

I haven't verfied this but I took "Completed" to mean that a decision has been rendered.

1. If you guys wish, live separately for a while and see if things improve.
2. Give him sufficient time to think over what he wish to do. Afterall he has been with you for a long time. (maybe he can apply for canadian PR, or find someone else to support his GC).
If you guys do something in haste you may have to repent for a long time. Treat each other fairly.

Hi,
I am in a messy situation and need advices. My h1 extension was denied on Aug 27 , 2009 and my I94 expired on Aug 16, 2009. I would appreciate if someone can tell me the options that I have right now. Am I in out of status and should I stop working immediately. It will be a week before I get the letter from USCIS. I just got it in the email as I had registered at their site.
I also wanted to know if I can transfer my H1 now even though the I94 is expired.
any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your case. I think there were some threads earlier about H1 extension denials. I don't remember exactly and i am not an expert but i think you can appeal and there are certain number of days you can work till you get the decision.. but don't take my word just dig in more into earlier threads. Let us know the reason behind your denial after you receive your letter from USCIS.

it would be a bumer if we had to pay the entire fees again to get her a new PIO...
hopefully they will not ask for full fee again.....never know what they are upto....
and BTW ..OCI was so much better compared to PIO.....so weird that they are not giving it to our kids...-:)

Called the attorney office yesterday and they confirmed that they received receipts for couple of cases filed on Jul 2nd.Didn't believe them until I saw this thread.
