What does your Notice to welcome mail looks like Do the have anything like "Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later" in the Sentnece. Please uodate. Does that mean an inperson interview
Yeah, mine also says 60 days or ADIT completion whichever is later.
Reading comments on forums, Alien Documentation, Identification & Telecommunications System (ADIT) seems like a relic from the past. It is no longer used but in USCIS messaging system it is still there. All my biometric is complete as far as I know. I don't think an interview is required.
Maybe those who got the physical GCs can tell us if their email had this ADIT thing mentioned.

Be careful about such return-of-premium policies mentioned here because some of them might not make financial sense. I did some research into this after posting my earlier link in post 10: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/biztech...5insurance.htm.
Here are MY calculations for the insurance premiums quoted in the article.
- "A 20-year return-of-premium policy might cost $1,175, or more than three times the cost of regular term." So a regular 20-year term life would be $392/yr.
Person A signs up for this return-of-premium policy. Person B signs up for regular term.
- After 20 years, A receives his/her own $23,500.
- After 20 years, B has paid out $7,833.
Wow! Awesome, eh? Not so fast....if you consider the financial savvyness of person B.
- For the first year, B saved $783 by paying $392 instead of $1,175.
- B invests this in the stock market (index mutual fund, ETF, etc.) which has typically returned 7% over extended periods of time. B's plan is to add $783 each year and not touch it for 20 years.
- Due to the power of compounding and investing $783 every year, at the end of 20 years, B's initial investment of $783 has become $34,346. I used the Compound Interest calculator available here: http://www.moneychimp.com/calculator/compound_interest_calculator.htm
So essentially, after 20 years, if both A and B are alive, A received $23,500 of his/her own money (which actually was an interest-free loan to the insurance company). On the other hand, B paid only $7833, but ended up making $34,346.00 because he/she puts the money to work for him/her-self. Even after assuming 28% tax on gains of $18,686 since $15,660 is the principal in the $34,346, B makes $29113.92.
Even, if B was conservative and did not want to invest in the stock market, B still comes up ahead if one assumes a uniform 4% rate of return over 20 years from bank CDs. B would still pay only $7833, but make $24,248.00.
So the bottom line is
1. Get quotes for return-of-premium policies as well as regular term.
2. Do the math before you sign up for either one.
3. If a policy sounds too good to be true, most probably, it is.
Thanks,
Jayant

Rajiv Khanna went flat out in early July saying this lawsuit was doomed for failure when AILF was asking everyone to apply to get rejected. However, now he thinks it makes sense to apply and get rejected since there's nothing to lose! It's a different thing that unlike Murthy he's going to charge for refiling.
Anyway, I believe RK's changed his opinion from "not bloody likely" to "not likely". :-)
Thanks,
Jayant

HI! Any body please respond my question. My wife came to US on H4. After a year she paid $1800 to a recruiter and took H1B in the year 2004. She got pregnant and couldn't work. Her H1B came with an I-94 and it was valid till Oct.2007. Last May we visited India and went to consulate for stamping. As she never worked on H1B, she was again stamped with H4 and entered into US again on H4. Later she came to know that she lost her H1B status and H1B approval she has is totally invalid. Now again she wants to apply for H1B. Now recruiter is asking $3000. But still we are in doubt about H1B approval as we have the following questions. Any one please advise us.
Her H4, I-94 is valid till Mar.23 2007. She is going to apply for H1 on Apr.2nd as Apr.1st is holiday. Is she going to get H1B approval with out I-94 as she doesn't have approved H4 I-94?
If so, does she need to go to India for stamping?
Is there anything we can do with our old H1B as its validity is till Oct.2007.
Does she comes under 65K cap?
Thanks in advance.
Your wife's previous H1-B is no longer valid. Since she is on a H4 status now, she has to apply for a change of status to H1-B. The only time when you switch employers with old H1-B is if you are already on a H1-B status and wish to go back to your old employer whose H1-B is still valid.
Hope this helps....

OK, this approach will REALLY add value to 'ban disrupters' [sic]
1. Create an online petition supporting this cause and get 5,000 signatures
2. Send flowers to the Admin requesting him to listen to you
3. Send emails/ PM's to those Lou Dobbs-like users that you dont like
4. Flame all messages with the names 'Sheela' or 'Murthy'
5. While you are it, tell us about last night's dream, in Hindi. Translate it into Cantonese and P-Language (remember, that?)
6. Create 10 threads asking whether more rallies are good or bad, supporting your cause to ban disruptive users
7. Invite the intellectual insight of users debating that the First Amendment applies to anyone whose feet have touched US soil, whether H1B or not
8. Repeat 1 through 7 above
9. Keep dreaming that professionally-run programs run by scumbags like Numbers USA will really have to worry about IV
Folks, why is the height of high skilled immgrants' intellectual capacity being used to plaster these B-boards with pointless rants and misguided emotions?
The cause ahead of us is HUGE and needs PROFESSIONAL PRESENCE and SUSTAINED MESSAGING - **not** this kind of low blow messages.
Typing is free, but meaningful messages are priceless :)!

I agree, try the alternatives suggested by snathan and gcisdawg.
Bringing some one to work on tourist visa is illegal and I would advise against it.
There are qualified nannies available in the US to do the job for you. You can also get the licensed kind depending on which state you live in. Of course, they are not cheap  We were looking for a nanny for our baby as well and decided that my wife would just stay at home and take care of the baby. Only a mother can provide the proper care a 3 month old baby requires. If this is an option for you then you can look into it.

Is there any way if we file Law case for Fees Increase?
Saying that, Can INS assure the Fess is increasing for Better Process, means Processing will be done on or before 6 months!
===============
If you imaginge that the steep fee increase would improve process times..you are deeply mistaken...heh..heh..heh...your fee goes into the DOL or DOS bucket and end up funding the border fencing... you still have to stand in line for years...heh..heh..heh...

I need some help with my daughters EAD and AP renewal (e-filing) applications.
Here are the details. She came to US on H4 (I am the primary applicant, on H1B). As she was going to age-out in July 2007, she was transferred to F1 in April 2007. Fortunately, she was able to file I-485 in June, 2007 and got her EAD and AP. In 2008 she went abroad and came back to US using AP.
For I-765 EAD renewal (e-filing) what should be her response to following questions?
1. Manner of entry to US (visitor, student etc.)
2. Current Immigration Status (visitor, student etc.)
3. Please select your eligibility status
Similarly, for I-131 AP renewal (e-filing) what should be her response to following questions?
1. Class of admission
2. Date of intended departure
3. Expected length of trip
Also, for AP renewal does she need to write a letter to USCIS? If so, can someone provide the format of the letter?
Thanks in advance

Hi Everybody,
After waiting for more than six years for GC in EB3 I have decided to port PD to Eb2. I do have some concerns on this as my company says that I do not need to file a new H1B nor do I have to file an AC21 but they will be willing to file a new labor through a sister company. My question is even if this were a sister company which is different than the original company how can they file a new labor without an AC21 or a new H1B. I am currently working in EAD and my H1B has expired 3 years ago.I would also request members to please post if they have pending 485 or has successfull 485 with Eb3 to Eb2 portability.
Please Advice
Thanks

Absolutely not true!!! When you can change jobs even before getting the GC using AC21, there is no reason why you cannot jump to another job after getting the GC.
If I get it, I wouldn't worry that much for the next 5 years.

as per my lawyer....anytime before the application gets adjudicated.
Please check with lawyer again. I-485 can be filed for dependent upto 180 days after I-485 approval for the primary beneficiary.
The dependent must be related to the primary applicant BEFORE I-485 approval.
Not a legal advice.

The 32 million will get insurance coverage only from 2014 from a govt created pool of private insurance companies, since the govt will subsidize 60% of that amount, dont think that the insurance will get much money from the govt.
Moreover when these companies have to accomodate pre existing conditions , a person can get insurance before going to see a doctor. So essentially the patient can rake a 20k bill to the insurance comp just by paying premiuim for that year.Just imagine if a company pays more to doctors than it gets from people???it will fall.
If a person can get insurance across state lines our insurance prem wud be lower and more ppl wud buy it instead of forcing people to buy from 2014.
why is the insurance premiums going to rise after healthcare bill is passed???
The main idea of the Obama plan is to bring the insurance companies down slowly and to create a govt single payer system.
oh ya.... if this bill will crumble insurance companies then y is it that their stock is going up for last 3 days..... insurance companies got a sweet deal.... another 32 million customer..... & u r saying they r going broke by getting more business.... that's expensive....
govt is not the answer for all problems..... but in some cases government is the only answer....
