I hope this means that MobileMe will become a free service, and "Castle" will be an upgrade from that. I just can't see myself paying for an upgrade on top of the (barely justifiable) charge for the current MobileMe.

Same here. The mismatched iOS versioning between the AT&T and Verizon iPhones is beginning to remind me of Android. Because of Apple's history of ensuring all current iOS devices are on the same release is a big reason I made the move from the Droid X, and now Apple is doing it too. Whether or not I see a benefit from the latest iOS release, I want to be sure I had the latest and greatest rather than play the wait game plauging many of the Android based phones.

Yep... Confirmed here too. But for the size, design and price of this little unit I just can't find anything to complain about. ...The laser engraving could have been a bit bigger, but hey I can read it just fine - just my name and phone number in case I lose it at the gym.

I shoot with a canon HV30 which imports as HDV1080i
Will that format be friendly to both editing suites?

because i shoot in the 24p mode I have to reverse telecine in and because I edit in FCP 99% of the time, I convert it to prores. Does premiere play nice with prores?

People have already been commenting on future generations/revisions of the shuffle.
This is how I see the shuffle's roadmap:
Currently, it is at 1GB.
I think the next revision will bump it to 2GB at the same price point. That's what happened with the nano AND shuffle a year later. (although the shuffle did increase by $10, maybe due to the dock/form factor difference?)
My opinion is that they can not have two shuffles at 1GB and 2GB because of the price right now, and the intrusion into the nano market. Right now, prove me if I'm wrong, 2GB flash memory costs anywhere from $50-$100?
I also see Apple chopping off the part on the left that does not have controls. They will move the headphone jack over as well as the controls so that it fits in a 1"x1" section. That will probably be 3rd Gen, maybe at 4GB.
I think by the time 4GB becomes cheap/small enough to fit in an under $99 price point, they will be able to chop off that left side.
SO in my own opinion:

becomes
2GB at $79 (sept '07 iPod Special Event)
becomes
4GB at $69 (sept '08 iPod Special Event) w/ left side chopped off. The reduction in price is just due to less material costs because of smaller size and advancements in manufacturing/technology.

If I understand it right, it's randomly chosen from the list of songs that has only 1 recommendation (the submitter's) so that it gets more exposure than the once around on the main page. The rotation happens at 3:00 a.m. EST, if I'm not mistaken.

Honestly I would have been flattered if asked. But like LBJ, if nominated I would not run, if elected I would not serve (at least at this point). For as evident by my posts over the past few days, my new job and new outlook as to what I find important has changed. In the end I think that active members like myself also serve a purpose, as much as those that are in a mod status.
I am glad that we have a couple EU members as mods in some degree.

I see TJ Maxx's acquisition of some iPads as a marketing scheme. If a few select stores have at least 5 to offer at a discounted price, imagine what kind of results they would get if they offered them as a Black Friday Doorbuster Special. They would probably get hundreds lined up at the door like Best Buy does for a deeply discounted HDTV or laptop. As for a warranty, I don't think they offer warranties on any of their products because they are a clearing house.
