The iOS slider does not make any sense when quickly looking at options on screen. One has to click-drag-release for the slider function to work, not a hugh problem on iOS since its on a small screen.
Considering that Mac OS is not touch based, makes additional steps to accomplish the same task and is less intuitive.
You didn't have to click-drag. Just click your option, exactly as before. (Same as iOS, you don't have to drag the slider, you can press on your option.)
Although, the design of the slider made it look like you had to do this, which is probably why they changed it.

Yup, i dont reckon he'd stream it live to us just to blow us a raspberry, or any other fruit for that matter.
He did it last year. The 5G event was streamed to Europe and you still can't get TV shows. Neither can we but it wasn't streamed here.

It's streamed to a room with selected journalists, no member of the public will see it until it's posted in full later on by Apple on their website.

I personally find that the "translucent plastic" in Windows 7 looks like it was ripped off from the 90s and a bad Linux window manager. Seriously, it screams "look at me, I'm trying too hard!".
And it's a complete rip-off of KDE 4.x.

installing the HD into your macbook pro? i'd like to know how that goes. i've seen some issues with the 1tb drives not fitting just right. (too thick)
highest I've ever been able to install is a 750GB.
I was able to fit my 1tb samsung into the harddrive slot just fine. That along with my ssd - awesome combination.

I'm not a legal expert at all but I would think that since the Xbox can only connect with connect360 if you have access to both systems (xbox360 and the mac) then that should be evidence enough? Or am I wrong about having to have access to both? I can't remember since its been months since I set mine up.

Obviously Apple loves bad providers. In Germany they contracted T-Mobile, a Telekom AG company (not because of bad service ... but because of no service at all :eek: - as experienced in the past) That's THE reason why I don't want an iPhone.
But seriously ANY Australian will tell you that Telstra is rubbish.

I think I will still hold out for the next version, even though I am keen on getting an iphone.
Yeah sure is, Telstra is pushing for their new wireless network (NextG) and from what I've seen with our company demo looks as though the iPhone will work. But being Telstra all I can say is that I wont buy one on a Telstra service, the iPhone is brilliant the service is rubbish (the connection to the web is CRAP, it drops out sooooooo much).
According to the information I'm getting through my higher powers at work the iPhone will be released within the next month (end of Feb being the latest date) but unfortunately I don't have prices but from what I've heard it will be "competivitely price" (I seriously don't know what that means since it's coming from Telstra).
The other thing Telstra is supposedly offering is a Video on Demand service for the iPhone a little like their Bigpond Movies (http://www.bigpondmovies.com/) service they currently offer.

The doctor is not playing politics, hes practicing good preventative medicine.Sorry, during which year of medical school do doctors receive gun safety training? How many hours of coursework on home safety do they complete? The typical MD is no more qualified to discuss these matters than any bozo on the street with more than an ounce of common sense. If they really want to help their patients child-proof their homes effectively, providing a helpful checklist would far more effective than interrogating parents.

It looks like the only way M$ is "catching up" is by copying technologies with which we are already familiar. As Bertrand Serlet suggested, maybe M$ really DID start up their photocopiers :D
I saw a video on YouTube entitled "The Real Windows Vista (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QdGt3ix2CQ)", in which the audio from a (series of) M$ lecture(s) was combined with video showing a Mac user demonstrating the then-unreleased features of Vista on a Mac. It was originally in three parts, and at the end of each part the specific technologies mentioned were identified, as well as the year in which they were introduced. It appears also that, as Mr. Serlet also mentioned, "if you can't innovate, you must imitate, but it's never quite the same."
Heh, I've seen that video it's classic. However, if you were to say fair-is-fair, MS publicly announced their road map for what became Vista before XP even came out. Apple KNEW what MS was working on. No body knew what Apple was working on.

Not sure what the fuss is all about. I haven't had the "issues" that everyone seems to raising soo much sand about....but I bought a bumper to protect the phone. It's a device made by humans and it can malfunction.........didn't we know that already?
My iPhone 4 works better in my home theater system than the 3....no interference and no issue....my 3G didn't work correctly half the time. So....maybe the antenna attenuation actuals helps in doors........(kidding):D

It's hard to decide from the ad whether it means special prices or not - I'm about to order a Macbook and can't decide if it's worth waiting!!

While OS X was a huge step for Apple--and an absolutely critical one--I'd argue that it wasn't the *first* step in their turnaround. That role belongs to the original iMac. By the time OS X came around, more iMacs had been sold than all Macs for the previous several years, and every PC company was trying to copy it with some flavor of their own. It had also revolutionized the peripherals market by pushing USB from being a minor side technology to being the primary connectivity method.

this is really the start of good things for apple.
if they really want to get more marketshare. Introduce more models.
ie
1- a midsized tower. to offer more power and upgradability than iMac or mac mini, and less than Mac Pro. This is part of reason why less desktop models are being sold than laptops.
2- Slim Macbook
3- iPhone (ipod phone/pda)
4- Embrace HDTV with new lines of HDTV compliant monitors (HDCP) and blu-ray or hd dvd & add hdcp compliant videocards also. Also sell HD content via itunes.
